William Ackerman began his business in 1907 with a push cart going door to door doing minor electrical repairs and grew to opening the 1st store in 1915. In 1986 the company was sold to Kendall and in 1994 the lighting center as we now know it was born.

The primary focus of our business has always been customer service and we strive on a daily basis to do it better than anyone. We are American Lighting Association certified professionals with extensive knowledge and over 100 years combined experience.

Kendall has a large inventory of fixtures in stock and has special order access to over 100 vendors. There are convenience centers where we can demonstrate the use of recessed, track and landscape lighting as well as a plethora of hanging fixtures.

Kelly - Lighting Center Manager

Kelly has been in lighting for 22 years, 14 of which have been with Kendall Lighting. In 2002, Kelly received her Lighting Specialist certificate and earned her Certified Lighting Consultant degree in 2003. Kelly enjoys a challenge and the more technical aspects of lighting as in photometrics, beam patterns, highlighting art work and other features of a home. She enjoys landscape lighting and regards it as "expanding your living space". Kelly finds satisfaction in helping clients achieve the look they've decided on for their new home.

Kristin - Certified Lighting Consultant

Kristin is a Lighting Specialist and Certified Lighting Consultant of the American Lighting Association, as well as an alumnus of the University of Michigan. She has been involved in lighting most of her life with 10 years experience in photography "capturing light on paper". Kristin has been involved in multiple residential communities with a special talent for being able to interpret peoples' individual tastes and ideas resulting in lighting being a focal point of every project. She has many years of experience in landscape lighting design and is probably one of the few people with a collection of antique light bulbs.

Cris - Lighting Specialist

Cris graduated with a degree from Kendall College of Art and Design in 1991 and has received her certificate as Certified Lighting Specialist. She has been working at Kendall Lighting for over 14 years focusing on display arrangements and now moving into some of the larger home building projects. Cris enjoys helping people to lay out floor plans and co-ordinating colors, textures and spacial relationships.

Heather - Lighting Specialist

Heather has been a Certified Lighting Specialist since 2006 and has been with Kendall Lighting for 7 years. She always appreciates the opportunity to obtain more knowledge and with the changes in light bulbs alone gets that chance on a daily basis. Heather enjoys landscape lighting and has worked on light commercial projects. You can trust Heather to "tell it like it is" and know that she does a great job with multi-tasking and follow through.

Julie - Lighting Specialist

Julie is a graduate of Baker College with an Associate Degree in Interior Design. She is a multi-talented lighting specialist who is deeply involved with our advertising campaign. Julie enjoys seeing a completed project well done with satisfied and pleased homeowners. Her favorite project to date is working with Union Square.

Rich - Lighting Specialist

Rich has been involved in the lighting industry for 23 years as a manufacturers' representative and in lighting sales involved in major home building projects, light commercial jobs and office spaces. Rich enjoys problem solving with customers and the smile on their faces as they leave with a solution. Rich likes being part of an employee owned company as it gives him a more vested interest in the client to provide the excellent service our customers have come to expect and appreciate.

Stacey - Lighting Specialist

Stacey started at Kendall Lighting Center 9 years ago as a receptionist and advanced into sales in 1999. She earned her Lighting Specialist certificate in 2001. Stacey is very detail oriented, loaded with patience, and known for her specialty in multi-tasking. Stacey enjoys working with different people and on a variety of projects.

Dave - Logistics

Dave is an early bird who has been with Kendall Lighting for over 12 years. He is in charge of UPS, location to location transfers and "You Name it Dave" will do whatever needs to be done. He is always dependable and a good person to keep products moving.

Steve - Logistics

Steve has been involved in the logistics end of the lighting industry for more than 25 years, 3 of which have been at Kendall Lighting. Steve is in charge of getting orders shipped to customers accurately and expediently. He also does back up, filling where needed with transfers, receiving, and putting away material. Steve enjoys staying active, and as a long distance runner, appreciates not being "tied to a desk".
